The Botched Mumbai Operation

Oh yes! Trust our lousy news channels to start their hypocritical and superficial paeans to our dead commandos. And promptly when the next pay dispute arises they want to take a "neutral and objective" stance. Maybe when Jamshed Jihadi attacks the Times Now studio the next time round and hold perennially constipated Arnab Goswami hostage - the commandos should also take and "unbiased and objective" stand as to who they shoot - Arnab or Jamshed. The fact is by ignoring the fact that the NSG screwed up this operation - and screwed up right royally - the press are doing no one any favours. Quite the contrary the next time something like this happens the press will have blood on its hands - for the simple reason that they did what they always do - grandstand and answer question nobody asked - while ignoring the critical issues. Maybe if some of them actually had the courage to call this disastrous failure just that - it may just prevent a repeat. But oh no - shiver the thought. Did anyone see News X yesterday? The Israeli Ambassador at least had the guts to put Shirin in her place and called her "off tangent and idiotic" which pretty much describes the press as a whole.

Why was this operation botched? well far too many reasons.

1) No one seemed to realise that NONE OF THE TERRORISTS WERE WEARING MASKS!!! Why is that significant? Simple - when a terrorist wears a mask it means he wants to avoid identification and hence intends to survive. The very fact that they were not wearing masks meant that this was a suicide mission.

2) The MARCO (marine commando) chief in his press briefing (What the hell was he briefing the press for when he should have been doing what he is paid to do?) openly admitted that they went in blind - i.e. without any schematics of the buildings they were supposed to "Storm". God knows how many of his commandos paid with their lives for his strategic "blindness".

3) What was the rush to storm the buildings? Couldn't he have waited 24 hours to gather intel and floor plans before going in? From his mustache he probably fancies himself to be a Chuck Norris - with all the finesse and tact of hippo.

4) I thought there was meant to be a curfew on? yet looking at all the cheap filmy bystander crowd that gathered (and was shamelessly smiling into and waving at cameras) - and the press trash that had privileged access to the sites - one would think it was the annual Mumbai public picnic.

5) And oh yeah - live visuals of every new contingent of commandos arriving at the scene - streamed live to the terrorists courtesy NDTV, Times NOW and CNN-IBN. Gee if there ever were a Jihadi B team i wonder who would get that honour?

6) Did anyone even bother noticing - not one of those NSG commandos were equipped with modern guns - All either had WW2 era AK-47s and FN Herstal 7.62mm rifles. Yet the SPG that protects that worthless eunuch of a Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi's Italian whore or her half breed mongrels, carry ultra modern FN2000 5.56mm guns and Israeli Tavors. Take a look at their helmets - not one of them had a night vision attachment. What were they meant to find their way with? beeswax candles?

7) Did anyone get a good look at the equipment Jamshed Jihadi was carrying? No inaccurate crude AK-47s here - rather the deadly effective Heckler and Koch MP5.

8) What does it say about our military apparatuses effectiveness that 24 gunmen can hold upwards of 14,000 policemen and well over 1000 "CRACK" commandos at bay for well over 48 hours?

9) Why do these moron "commanders" keep telling us "one more hour" - and "final operation" every single time? Don't they have anything better to do than talk to the press from their air conditioned offices while their soldiers are dying?

Truly if British historian Alan Clark's words "Lions led by Donkeys" could be applied then this would be it. Spare a thought for the average jawan, who went in poorly equipped
- knowing fully well that his equipment was sub standard
- knowing his commanders strategy was was devised in the rectal rather than cranial regions
- blind as a bat given that he had no map or night vision
- and knowing full well that he was going to die not to save lives but to ameliorate the guilt of his political masters.

Manmohan Singh and Shivraj Patil murdered these men -make no mistake - these soldiers were not martyred - but cold bloodedly stabbed in the back by our very own chief of the Judenrat - the rented Sikh, Amar Singh, Laloo, Mulayam and Paswan.
